G7 Summit, Garmisch-Partenkirchen
France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK and USA were the original countries that formed the G6 in 1975, before Canada was added in 1976 to create the G7. Every year, the heads of government of the member countries and representatives of the European Union attend the summit to debate world issues that vary from year to year but are centred on major topics such as the global economy, climate change and international security. The intention of the assembly is to develop policy to ensure universal peace and security with a focus on freedom & human rights, democracy & the rule of law and prosperity & sustainable development.
