Crans's most famous Event in the summer is the yearly Omega European Masters, the prestigious and world-famous Golf tournament. Taking place in the last week of August (25.08.2022-28.08.2022), in Crans-Sur-Sierre Golf Club. The Open is holding its 75th international tournament this year, welcoming some of the best golf players worldwide.
Crans-Sur-Sierre Golf Club is located in the Rhone Valley at 1500m altitude and is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking courses in the world. It started in 1906 and has been ranked in magazines as one of the most beautiful courses in the world. It is especially recognized for the Omega tournament. The Omega tournament, called the Swiss Masters originally, took place first in 1923 in Engadine-Samedan. In 1939 the Open took place in Crans Montana for the first time. After that hit, the war and the tournament restarted again in the year 1948, also on the Crans-sur-Sierre golf course. Ever since Crans Montana became the permanent location for this tournament.
Very famous names, like Dai Rees, Harold Henning, Severiano Ballesteros, and Jose Maria Olazabal have won this tournament. In this year's edition, Miguel Angel Jimenez has confirmed his 32nd appearance at the Omega tournament. Moreover, the two Danish brothers, 2021 winner Rasmus Hoojgaard and his twin-brother Nicolai will be very close competitors.
