The tournament is played since 1928 at the Stade Roland-Garros located at 2 Av. Gordon Bennett, Paris, France. The stadium is famous for its’ surface that is covered in red clay. In fact it is covered with white limestone and on top there is red brick dust. Such surface is considered to be challenging for players but 'plays the best' as Venus Williams said.
